Venture Building
Constanze will share her research insights on venture building, which we define as the curation, activation and recombination of ideas, people and resources to commercialise ideas. Through the iteration and interplay of these components, separate ventures emerge to be spun off. While venture studios’ role as organisational co-founders may seem attractive to large organisations who want to increase equity, control and involvement in the startups they engage with, the reasons and conditions for creating these studios are often overlooked. This oversight can lead to inefficiencies and, ultimately, failure of such initiatives. Therefore, before launching new innovation initiatives, organisations should first assess whether they have the necessary foundations and resources to ensure these initiatives succeed. In this paper, we outline the structural, strategic and cultural prerequisites in addition to the human, intellectual and financial capacities required for the creation of venture studios.
